Are other activities available?

In addition to this activity, we offer a large variety of other activities in Lagos and the Algarve. Check out our Activities page.

How many people are in a group surf lesson?

A maximum of 8 surfers per instructor. Groups are intentionally smaller than the legal Portuguese limit so each surfer gets real feedback during the session.

What is the minimum age for group surf lessons?

Adult group lessons are open from age 16 with no upper limit. Surfers aged 8 to 15 join our dedicated Kids Surf Lessons. If you are booking a mixed group with kids, mention it at booking and we will match the right session.

Group versus private, which should I pick?

Group lessons are ideal if you are a beginner or improver who enjoys learning alongside others, and the price is lower. Private lessons are best if you want 1-to-1 feedback, are working on a specific technique, or want to progress fastest. Both run on the same beaches with the same partner-school instructors.

What if my level is different from the rest of the group?

Tell us your level when you book. Partner schools split groups by ability when needed, so beginners are not held back by improvers and vice versa. If the group composition is not right on the day, the instructor rotates attention to balance time across levels.

How long is a group surf lesson?

Roughly 2 to 3 hours from meet-up to drop-off, including the warm-up and beach briefing. Water time is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours per session. We usually meet at 8:30 am at the shop and are back by early afternoon.

What does the group surf lesson price include?

Surfboard (soft-top foam board for beginners), wetsuit, rash vest, van transfer from our Old Town shop to the beach and back, and your certified partner-school instructor. You also get 10% off in the surf shop while you are with us. Multi-day packages reduce the per-day cost: 5 days runs €250 in low season (Nov to Jun) and €300 in high season (Jul to Oct).

A typical group surf lesson day

Group lessons follow a steady rhythm so first-timers and improvers both leave with real progress.

8:00 to 8:30 am, meet at the shop

Drop into the Old Town shop, grab your wetsuit and board, jump in the van with the partner-school instructor. The beach is chosen the evening before from the morning forecast.

8:45 to 10:00 am, warm-up plus theory

Land-based stretch and pop-up practice on dry sand. Quick safety briefing covering rip currents, paddling lanes, and how to fall safely.

10:00 am to 12:00 pm, water time

1.5 to 2 hours of guided coaching in the line-up. Max 8 surfers per instructor means real feedback after every wave.

12:00 to 1:30 pm, wrap-up

Photos if conditions allowed, debrief on what went well, suggestions for what to work on next session. Van ride back to the shop.
